To Uber or not to Uber: Tostitos chip bag decides if transport is needed

Snack maker Frito-Lay has teamed up with Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Uber to create Tostitos 'Party Safe' Bags.

The official snack of the Superbowl, the bags are equipped with a sensor that can detect small traces of alcohol on a person's breath. If the Tostitos snacker is sober, the bag glows green, however, if the person has been drinking, the bag glows bright red displaying a 'Don't drink and Drive' message and a $10 Uber coupon.

Frito-Lay has been quick to emphasise that the bags are not actual breathalyzers - blowing on a chip packet is not a reliable indicator of current blood alcohol levels. Rather, the intent is to get people talking, making this years Superbowl celebrators a little more aware of their drinking and the need to make safe choices when planning their trip home.
