The Tourism Authority of Thailand put a fresh spin on the childhood tattoo, turning the temporary ink into a promotional tool at the CITM Shanghai Tourism Expo.
Working with creative agency Leo Burnett, a number of tattoo designs were created and displayed as inkable 'flyers'. Once the tattoo flyer was applied to the skin, it could be scanned with a smartphone and redirected the user to a series of different videos that promoted Thailand.
So successful was this idea, contributing to a 42% increase in Chinese Tourists visiting Thailand, that plans were made to replicate the ink across other International Tourism Expos this year - where competition to get flyer cut-through is just as fierce.
