Go where the people go…outdoor ads

The sun is shining, the days are longer, football is out, cricket is in, and thongs have once again become acceptable footwear.

Spring has sprung, people are outdoors and advertising needs to be doing the same. It seems to be an obvious connection, but a lot of advertisers seem to be sending their brands on holidays when it is really prime time to be outside, advertising to those who have both the time and the money to be excellent consumers - so says the Outdoor Media Assocation (OMA).

According to the association, 54% of people believe that they are more aware of outdoor advertising over summer, 33% watch less TV over summer and 21% spend less time online.That’s not to say that people aren’t outdoors and still on their mobile phones, but it does provide some food for thought about the connection between weather and media spend...
